What does Service A, A1, A2, B, B1, B2, C, D, E, E1, E2, E3, F, G, H, indicate when it appears in your Instrument Cluster. The letter is a reference to the time required to perform the indicated service. A = 1 hour, B = 2 hours, H = 8 hours, if a plus symbol ( + ) also appears this is an indication that an inspection of the Brakes is required while performing the required service.
This can lead to some confusion as most Servicing of Mercedes Benz vehicles is performed either doing a Service A, or Service B. Service A, being a minor service and Service B, being a major service. Servicing is required due to mileage or time, a Service is required yearly.

Service requirements are different from model to model and on the year of manufacture.

Common Service Terms

Listed below is a general indication of the different requirements

Service A: Engine Oil and Filter replacement, perform a basic inspection of the vehicle and report any issues found while performing the inspection. Inspect and correct fluid levels. Inspect and correct tire pressures. Reset Service Light and reset Tire Pressure Monitor if applicable.

Service B: Engine Oil and Filter replacement, replace Engine Air Filters, replace Cabin Filter. Inspect vehicle and report any issues found while performing the inspection. Perform Brake inspection, measure and evaluate condition of Brake Pads and Rotors. Inspect and correct fluid levels. Inspect and correct tire pressures. Reset Service Light and reset Tire Pressure Monitor if applicable.

Transmission Service Required every 60,000 Km
Spark Plug replacement required every 100,000 Km
Brake Fluid Flush every 2 years or 40,000 Km
Diesel Fuel Filter replacement every 35,000 Km

It is also recommended to add a Fuel Additive into the Fuel Tank at every service as this maintains a healthy Fuel System, thus promoting better fuel economy.
